Top Soil & Fill Dirt
Top Soil
Top Soil is the upper, outermost layer of soil, usually the top 2 inches to 8 inches. It has the highest concentration of organic matter and microorganisms and is used on top of fill dirt (for example, sod, planting).
Fill Dirt
Fill Dirt is earthy material which is used to fill in a depression or Sink hole in the ground or create mounds or otherwise artificially change the grade or elevation of real property. Fill dirt is usually subsoil (soil from beneath the top soil) and underlying soil parent material which has little soil organic matter or biological activity. Fill dirt is taken from a location where soil is being removed as a part of leveling an area for construction; it may also contain sand, rocks, and stones, as well as earth.

- Brent came out this morning, he did an amazing job on the side of my house and my backyard. He leveled the yard and knocked down a fence or two. His pricing was the BEST we have been in this house for 17 years and for the 1st I love my backyard. Other grading companies are so expensive and tried to rip me off but Brent really made me happy. I recommended him to my neighbor as well.- Darrlynn Turner. 5/21/2018
- Brent had straight forward pricing. Very fair pricing. Was great with communicating when he could start--due to some rain the last few weeks he was booked about two weeks out. Easy to reach. Very responsive. Did a great job and it was exactly as expected. He was very fast to complete it. Would definitely call him again for work in the future and have recommended him to a neighbor already.- Lea . 4/17/2018
- CBS Grading did an excellent job putting crush and run gravel off our driveway to provide some extra parking space. I provided the dimensions and they calculated exactly what we needed. We decided to pay a little extra to have it spread and I’m glad we did! Brent knows what he’s doing and did a fantastic job leveling and spreading the gravel. Very pleased!- Tania By The Picket Fence. 1/23/2018
